Uniqnames & Passwords

Uniqname Administrators with the "All-Password Reset" capability are able to reset UMICH passwords for members of the UMICH community who have forgotten them. Any member of the university community can phone the ITS Service Center for a password reset at ay time, so only the staff of a limited number of U-M IT departments need and have this capability. Outside of the ITS Service Center, All-Password Reset access is available only to IT staff at MCIT, CAEN, Dearborn, and Flint.
This document offers tips for creating secure passwords and provides instructions for changing your UMICH (Level-1) password. It also tells you what to do if you forget your password. You use your UMICH password with your uniqname to log in to many U-M services and systems.
This document provides information about managing the MCommunity Directory group profile associated with a shared account. Shared accounts allow a group to have a U-M Google or U-M Box account that is owned by that group rather than by an individual. This document includes information on changing the UMICH password used for that account.
