Overview
How to use NetDisco to find devices on the network and where they are connected.
Procedure
There are three main options to search on Node VLAN and Device:
- Node: This option is the most used and you can search by either the MAC address or IP address. Results will show the Vendor of the device, the IP address, MAC address, host name (if any) as well as the switch and port the device is connected to. Using an example of 141.213.146.50, you see the device is made by Dell, the MAC address (shown in red) and the it is connected to switch 10.233.1.6 on port ge-0/0/7.
- If you don't know the IP address you can also search by the MAC address and the results will be the same.
- From either of these screens you can click on the switch IP/port and NetDisco will return detailed port info showing the Speed and Duplex settings as well as the VLAN id it is a member of.
